Meet Igor Leygerman - Visual Designer from Philadelphia

Hi! I am Igor Leygerman a designer from Philly focused on visual and experience design.

How did you get into design?

I had a buddy in middle school who introduced me to Photoshop. Since then I haven't stopped pushing pixels or learning more and more about design. I started doing actual freelance work through online gaming, doing designs for gaming organizations and online gaming news websites.

What does your typical workday look like?

I work for a digital agency where I come in and not only get to work with awesome people but also get to flex my creativity working on awesome internal tools for the agency and client projects. I usually get home around 6-7 and hop right back on the laptop after dinner to design personal projects or work on some internal agency projects.

Who or what inspires and influences your work?

Simply following some of the top designers in the world & looking at websites like AWWWARDS & Dribbble always help with design inspiration. Sometimes real life experiences influence a digital design experience as well!

What is one project you are most proud of?

I'd say one of the coolest projects i've done is an interactive iPad shopping experience at QVC. This was a shopping app for the Red Carpet Style show in Beverly Hills. In the design I had a screen for a live HD stream of the behind the scenes for the red carpet. Users were able to see celebrities outfits live and shop them at the same time. I got to travel to California and run the live stream right from the Red Carpet Show.

How did you get introduced to Sketch and what do you like most about it?

When I worked for QVC a friend of mine there showed me Sketch. I really had no interest for it and actually told him that there is no chance i'd ever use the app. (Used to Photoshop). After a few months I decided to try it out since there was some hype behind it and really enjoyed it. After trying out Sketch for one simple UI design I never looked back. The ability to have multiple art boards on one canvas really helps the flow of my design process.

What are some of the tools in your workflow?

I use Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Protoshare, Invisionapp, Cinema 4D. And of course a white board.

If you could go back in time and do something different what would it be?

I wouldn't change a thing, everything I have done in my design career has gotten me to where I am today and I couldn't be happier.

What advice would you offer to those starting out in the field?

Imitate what some of the best designers online are doing today. Watch some videos on youtube and learn design patterns.
