How to collaborate on Sketch files?
During a recent sprint for a client at Central, we tested a new method inspired from Git's branching models to manage our Sketch files. It's not perfect but it made things much easier and understandable for everyone. It's based on a mix of file-naming and organization rules and is quite straightforward to implement...
Sketch 39 Resizing: Cheat Sheet
Sketch just released version 39, adding the ability to assign responsive rules to layers inside a symbol or group. Although this doesn't bring comprehensive responsive or adaptive design capabilities to Sketch, these 4 resizing options are remarkably powerful. And they can take some getting used to, especially because some of these resizing rules contain hidden functionality.
A Case for Iconfonts in Sketch
Sketch's symbols are getting better with every update, but they still have their limitations. Text overrides are great, and I think we are all hoping for a similar functionality for layer properties and assets that live inside of the symbol. In the meantime here is a little trick I use.
Life is too short to build something nobody wants
When thinking of User Experience, we often think of a simple, beautiful, and easy to use feature-set of a product, that makes the user's life easier. But as a matter of fact, features are merely a small, fragile part of the product. They are only a few of many thinkable solutions for a user's problem the product tries to solve. Thinking in products means thinking in specific user's problems, in jobs to be done, in goals, and in revenues.
The New Pricing Model for Sketch: Explained
You can still buy Sketch today and use it forever. The quality of Sketch releases is about to get much better. Paid updates will no longer be based on a silly version number. You can buy a paid update only if and when you really need it. Nothing changes in terms of backward compatibility.
Marek Minor: Features I Would Like To Use In Sketch
As designers, we want to move as fast as our ideas and design without restraints. That's why I would like to share my ideas of what to add. I'm aware that some of these features already exist in plugin form (like Fluid), but I developed them further and improved them based on my experience and my needs. I hope that someday, we'll see some of these features finished and implemented in the official Sketch app.
